| This is my super quick post before class. Get this, I only have five more weeks of classes...EVER! How sweet is that? I must say, school over the years has had it's ups and downs. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed a high percentage of the classes I've taken, but I'm not too big a fan of the homework! If I could just go to class and learn without all the out of class work, that would be sweet. But yeah, good times in the school-er-oooo. And now it is almost over. I am definitely looking forward to working, and then coming home at the end of the day and not worrying about homework. Oh yeah, and getting married. That is cool too. Okay, so I've got to go to class. How bout you leave me with a favorite school memory (any type of school, college, middle school, elementary, oh and let's not forget good ol' high school).

| Today I got my first pair of sandals of the year! You have no idea how excited I was. Let me set the story up for you. A friend of mine stepped on the back of one of my sandals last August and broke it. So I went to my friendly neighborhood walmart to pick up another pair of those 2 dolar ones that I love oh so much. Much to my dismay, they had already replaced their summer apparel with the winter line. Now, I'm all well and good with getting a jump on the next season. But you know it's starting to get out of hand when it's still summer, and can't buy even buy a decent pair of sandals. I ended up going to two walmarts, a target, and a kohls. I must say in their defence, kohls did have a few pairs of sandals, but nothing I liked. I just wanted a pair of plain black sandals and all kohs had were these ones with writing and designs all over them. And they were a bit more expensive than what I wanted. Anyway, months go by. It works out all right since I'm not crazy like some people (meaning I don't wear sandals in the winter).
Now we fast forward to the present, or at least the very recent past. This morning I walk out the door, and to my surprise found the weather to be quite warm. In fact, the weather was so warm that I didn't need my jacket. And then it hit me! "I'm going to buy a pair of sandals today" I thought to myself. So after classes I drive on over to walmart, and though they didn't have my beloved 2 dolar pair of black sandals they had some sweet leather ones for 6 buckaroos.
So I get in my car and head back to UMSL. And my car dies in the middle of the road! But it's cool. I calmly turn on the flashers, pull over to the side as best I can, and finally after a moment or two, and about twenty cars passing me, get her started up again. I get her going only to drive about a half mile and have her start to sputter. This time I had some juice left so I managed to pull into a parking lot. This time it took me a good five minutes to get her started up. I decided that I better head home while I have some juice left and not chance it by going back to UMSL to hang out with people (sorry Phil). So I make it on the highway only to have it die on me. By this time I can't get it started so I call my roomates and one of them was leaving anyway for work and agrees to come pick me up. I keep trying the ignition, and finally after about several minutes manage to get her sputtering to life. By this time I am trying everything to keep her going: turning off the overdrive, pushing this little power button my car has. Then I put it into 2nd. Well, it worked great then, however it's 2nd and you can only go so fast in 2nd on the highway. So that kind of sucked, though I did make it home. Thankfully a friend of mine who did a tune up for me a couple weeks ago told me that the spark plugs probably needed gapping, so my dad drove up and showed me how to gap spark plugs. It sill amazes me that a few millimeters can make that much of a difference in a car running or not running. So now it works like a charm, and I have a new pair of sandals. Bring on the summer!
| This is what it's all about. Coming together to worship God, building relationships with each other, then hitting the city, serving them, cleaning up, helping, getting into their lives, showing them what Love really is. This is what it's all about, a God who created us and decided He didn't want to leave us a lone, a God who would stop at nothing to save us, to show the world who He really is, a God who delights in using us to display the truth. a God with a brilliant plan This is what it's all about. It's not a meeting, It's not a weekend, It's not a cool band (though there will be) and it's not about feeling better about yourself. it's not about you. This is what it's all about. This is life the way it was meant to be lived, together, purposeful, passionate, meaningful. This is what's it's all about. Touching heaven, changing earth, and people will never be the same. | | |
| Classes start today at the wonderful UMSL. However, according to the sign outside my first classroom, my International Business class does not start till next week! So that is kind of nice, though it would have been even nicer to know this morning so I could have slept for a little longer. Oh well...
The Clear Vision conference was last weekend. It was a really great time, singing, listening to great speakers, hearing God's word, and seeing a ton of friends (and my brother, and all my new siblings). To top off the weekend, I got to spend a lot of time with my wonderful fiance Shannon. Unfortunately the time went to fast, and she is now back in Mexico until July. So yep, that was my weekend. It was definitely the best one so far this year, though we've only had a couple, so I guess that is not a fair comparison!
Good times to come.
Oh, one last thing, the wedding date is set for August 26 (that's right, I'm engaged, if you missed the last post, and all the rumors, and news, or if you just live under a rock and only come out a few times a year, or if you are one of those people who I am a lame friend to and forgot to tell, since I have been going crazy for the past month and a half).
